Poetry through the Seasons of Life

I will laugh and smile again but not just yet,
It is too early to go on whilst my cheeks are still wet,
I’ll sit here awhile with my memories so I do not forget
Just how much my dreams in you were met.

You were my everything, my strength, my light,
The one who kept me going through the darkest night,
Who put my nightmares and fears well to flight
And lifted my spirit out of the depths up to new heights.

You gave me your all, I couldn’t ask for more
Your every move was aimed to me to open new doors,
Your love for me and all we were I so easily saw
But now our future has been ripped from my core.

Surrounded by others yet I feel all alone,
Every ounce of strength torn from muscle and bone,
My heart is numb, empty and hard as stone,
As my spirit is torn it can only whisper and moan.

I know the feelings will not last and once more I will rise
Where my eyes look up and I once more peer at clear blue skies,
I will know that your spirit deeply within me lies
And I will stand up stronger and a little more wise.

I will laugh and smile again but not just yet,
It is too early to go on whilst my cheeks are still wet,
I’ll sit here awhile with my memories so I do not forget,
Just how much my dreams in you were met.

I’ll sit here a while and remember in my life the greatness of your part,
I’ll send you a loving kiss and say I’ll miss you sweetheart.
