I know the pain and anguish you hold in your heart
The questions and deep grief that add their dark part
The agony of losing him before he was yours
And feeling like you face a cold, hard, closed door.
I know the love you had to offer him if he was still here
The moments you would have given him, how you would have held him so dear
But still keep him in the part of your heart reserved just for him
And make sure he is remembered by all kith and kin.
Hold in your memory his hands, the touch of his skin and his beautiful face
For he is still with you but in a deep hidden place
He knows he is loved by you and that you had so much to give
He felt it within you in the world that he lived.
He knows you would have given him your love and so much more
And given opportunities for him the world to explore
But He is now with me beyond where you can see
And I cradle Him for you upon my loving knee.
I have not forgotten or left you, I’m here by your side
To go with you through this emotional roller coaster ride
I join my tears with the hundreds that you shed
For I too lost my Son when on the cross He bled.
I hold you both dear and will wrap you in love
From those around you and from heaven above
There is no doubt upon you this will leave its mark
But I am with you through both the light and the dark.
Do not despair or give up hope
I will give you the strength and courage to cope
And always remember the son you created out of love
Who now watches over you with me up above.
